This was dinner this evening......not what I intended or wanted....but interesting all the same.  Yesterday on my favorite site "Simply Recipes" the featured recipe was "Eggplant Green Curry."  I sounded so good....so I printed out the recipe and headed to the Asian market in town and began the hunt.  The two key ingredients were green curry paste and kaffir lime leaves, and of course I couldn't find either.  I ended up getting a jar of curry with coconut milk (coconut milk being one of the other ingredients) swapped out jicama for the bamboo shoots, and omitted the red pepper.  Lets just say its out of my system and if I make anything like this again I would peel the eggplant.  There is alot to say for trying new things....the first 3 or 4 bites were great but then the skin was too tough and the flavor wasn't right and no more experimenting for awhile.  Tomorrow I'm going to get Beef Wellington under my belt for the first time....look out Gordon Ramsey.

Today I went to this "Harvest Moon Festival" thingy put on by the city I live in. My sister had to sit at a table and hand out some literature about Zonta, which is a women's organization she belongs to. I got bored. There was a cemetery close by so I took a walk. Except for 1 year of my 47 years, I have live within 2 blocks of this cemetery and never ventured inside. It was very cool....I've never been in one that had stairs and levels.

Meet Donna Tusa

This is my friend Donna Tusa. We became friends in the year 1987. We met at a very difficult time in my life, and her humor was one of the things that pulled me through. Since that time we have helped each other in many good and bad times, and our ability to always make the other laugh or boost the ego when it needs it or just cry when the other cries, has created a very strong bond. If there is such a thing as past lives... I know we knew each other in another life and pulled some crazy bank robbery or Thelma and Louise drive into the Grand Canyon together... I just know it. Some guy we screwed over somewhere in time screamed "off with their heads".... and we didn't meet again until 1987 at the Reconcilement Department at the Bank of New England. Hopefully we will leave this life with our heads still attached....however if I'm going to drive into the Grand Canyon I know who will do it with me.

Food from the past two weeks!

My friend Linda brought me something to taste today... it was unbelievable.....lobster, shrimp, cream sauce, pasta, white wine....oooooh and other stuff but I was too busy inhaling it....I'll have to get the rest of the how to tomorrow when I have recovered from thinking about it. (Good thing I don't have to get my blood tested anytime soon)

I haven't been cooking too much over the past few weeks. Well, I have tried! Jelly is not my friend. Well watermelon jelly is not, strawberry rhubarb is. The watermelon will not jell. The strawberry rhubarb I have been told by those who have tasted it, is good.

One Friday Joe and I were both off and I decided to make a special breakfast. I had made a banana bread with chocolate chips, I had planned on stuffing it with chocolate cream cheese and making French toast but banana bread is not a soft as white bread so it didn't work. So I just made the French toast and put the cream cheese on top with some chocolate syrup. The first 3 bites were good, but then I had to give Joe the rest of mine.....a little too sweet for me. The chocolate cream cheese was very tasty.

This is catfish with basil cream sauce. I usually put shrimp in the sauce but I didn't have time. Catfish with shrimp and basil sauce is one of Joe's favorite meals (and he really doesn't like fish).

One night I only had a little time so I grated a few potatoes and browned them then added a few scrambled eggs and some cheese and threw it in the oven to finish....not bad ....but not going to rush to make this again soon.

This was tonights dinner, Trader Joe has these great lemon pepper noodles and I just added some shrimp and white fish with lots of lemon zest, juice, parsley, butter, olive oil...yum and quick.

Joe and I went to Magnolia today. We started going there very early on in our relationship. Its been fun through the years watching as some of the old run down homes are brought back to life. There was one that had a pool built into the rocks half way up from the water. The house itself was built on the top of a cliff. Anyway every once in a while we go there and shop for our fantasy house. Today we found a lovely summer place for my brother Al and his wife Shelley to buy.

The following pictures show the view looking out the front windows of my brother and his wife new home!

On the way home we stopped in Essex and ate at Woodman's. We shared a seafood combo and fried lobster tail plates. It's very close to Magnolia...just another good reason for my brother to buy this house.......

Sugar and Spice

The fluffy one is Sugar (mostly orange) and the short hair (mostly black) is Spice. Joe calls them Fred and Barney because the names I picked are according to him stupid! Actually we both call the fluffy one.... fluffy. I call the little black one peanut. But their given names are Sugar and Spice. Sugar belongs to Joe and Spice is mine, not our choice but theirs. Fluffy sits with Joe and watches T.V. and goes up to bed when he goes. There have been times when I try to enter the T.V. room to talk to Joe and she gives out a yelp and Joe say "she said get out", and if I don't get out and keep talking she will get up and leave in a huff. The little black one is all mine. Spice sits and watches me at night from the dinning room as I clean the kitchen or fold laundry. She never takes her eyes off of me like I'm the most incredible and interesting thing in the universe. These are not the first cats we have had. When we met I had one and Joe had two. I thought I would never enjoy any cats as much as those three...but time heals all wounds. Maybe its because I don't have kids but I am really crazy about these two.
